Asian Task Force
Against Domestic Violence
The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, Inc. is a coalition of
individuals and organizations which aims to eliminate family violence and
to strengthen Asian families and communities. The Task Force accomplishes
its mission through: Creating an environment of intolerance to domestic
violence through community organizing and education and outreach efforts
in the diverse Asian and mainstream communities. Providing direct services
to ensure the safety, stabilization and empowerment of battered Asian
families. Forging collaborations with other organization sand individuals
committed to ending domestic violence in Asian communities. Providing
leadership and advocating for social and political change around issues of
domestic violence and other issues that affect Asian families and
communities. As projects of the Asian task Force Against domestic
Violence, the Asian Shelter and Advocacy Project (ASAP) and Project Safe
share its mission. Asian Shelter and Advocacy Project (ASAP) GOAL: Through
our residential and non-residential services, ASAP provides emergency
shelter and multilingual services to Asian families experiencing
harassment, coercion, physical of sexual abuse. In addition, ASAP believes
that all individuals have the right to live independent, violence-free
lives. The purpose of the shelter is to provide Asian women and their
children with the safety space and opportunity to lead such lives. ASCAP's
service model is based on a philosophy of empowerment for Asian women and
their children. Thus, all shelter services will be guided by the principle
of respect for Asian women. Project Safe GOALS: Change the climate of
tolerance to domestic violence Reach communities not yet reached Advocate
for more effective response to the needs of Asian families from mainstream
